Brace Yourself for an Arresting April on AXN

Brace Yourself for an Arresting April on AXN March 07, 2011

Singapore,– AXN is bringing back crime series Hawaii Five-0 and CSI: NY Season 7 in April, delivering adrenaline-pumping action from battling sharks to tsunamis! Throw in emotional conflicts brought on by a few new faces and you will be rooted to your seat.

Hawaii Five-0 premieres on 11 April
Coming on the heels of the U.S. mid-season break, the second half of Hawaii Five-0 returns to AXN this April with a bigger splash. The Hawaii Five-0 team has its hands full with the Yakuza (Japanese mafia), pirate attacks and a major tsunami that sends the island’s inhabitants fleeing its shores.

But it isn’t all action and crime this season; the team has to grapple with some personal issues, too. Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) will have an awkward reunion with his ex-fiancée (LOST alumni Reiko Aylesworth) as she helps solve a case by identifying a dead body. Steve McGarrett’s sister is kidnapped by the Yakuza, while Danny Williams (Scott Caan) gets an unexpected visit from his little brother, Matt (Dane Cook), who harbours dark motives for the superficially happy reunion.

Guest stars to look out for include real-life engaged couple Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey, who will play Susan, a deckhand on board during the pirate attack, and her fiancé Tyler, respectively.

CSI: NY Season 7 premieres on 5 April
Goodbye Stella, hello Jo. Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sela Ward (The Stepfather, Once and Again) has signed on to replace Melina Kanakaredes who made her exit this season. Big shoes to fill indeed, since Kanakaredes’ character, Stella Bonasera, has been the face of the series since its inception.

Recently cast as Hugh Laurie’s love interest in House, Sela Ward comes on board CSI: NY as Jo Danville, an experienced investigator from Washington D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victims. Jo is thrust into the thick of things on her first day at work – when she trips over a corpse in a crime lab! Ward has earned the praise of co-star Hill Harper: “Sela is a wonderful actress, she has great spirit. We’re kind of a hard-edged New York show and her character brings all this Southern charm which is really lovely.”

Other new faces include David James Elliott (JAG), who will play Jo’s ex-husband, Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica), John Larroquette (Boston Legal, Richie Rich), Thomas Calabro (Melrose Place), Taylor Kinney (Vampire Diaries), and R&B singer Ne-Yo!

Look out for the answer to last season’s ‘shot-in-the-dark’ cliffhanger, when serial killer Shane Casey (Edward Furlong) stalked fan-favourite couple Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Lindsay Messer (Anna Belknap) on a family vacation. Was baby Lucy unharmed? Or were Danny and Lindsay shot? Tune in to the Season 7 premiere to find out!
