    The Blacklist

    Season 3, Episode 15

    Season 3

After recognizing online pictures of murdered tech entrepreneur Randy Brenner as the work of Drexel, an artist who calls his stylized photos social commentary, Red discovers that he’s already promoting his next crime in an underground magazine. As Cooper orders the team to find its author, Ressler and Samar question Brenner’s wife, unaware that Drexel is using a webcam to watch them. As Drexel continues eavesdropping while they interview Brenner’s partner Jonathan Adelson, Aram discovers that the crime scene photos were taken by a webcam controlled by a classified NSA program known as a Remote Access Trojan (RAT). Though the NSA’s Aaron Mulgrew admits to leaking the program to expose the government’s surveillance, he also kept track of everyone that downloaded it. As a result, Aram sends an FBI team to a loft workspace that’s been leased to high school art teacher Reginald Turner - aka Drexel. But when Samar and Ressler return to question Adelson, Aram discovers that their conversation and more have been recorded using the RAT. As Red and Dembe look for magazine writer Rimona who is set to interview Drexel, Liz heads for the hospital after her ex-boyfriend Dr. Nik Korpal calls to say Tom is gravely wounded and being held in the ER as part of a robbery investigation. However, instead of identifying him as one of the burglars, the jewelry store security chief says that Tom is a company undercover agent who infiltrated the burglary team. As Tom and Liz suspect Red’s involvement, Nik admits that he too is working for Red. Meanwhile, Aram traces more webcam feeds to the Virginia RAT farm where Adelson and Brenner collected and sold unauthorized surveillance. Finding Rimona at a New York hotel, Red demands to know when and where she’s interviewing Drexel. Stopped before he can kill Rimona for leading Red and Dembe to their rendezvous at the Brooklyn Museum, Drexel reveals that he’s working for an anonymous client who commissions him to create specific artworks. Leaving Drexel for the FBI, Red questions the art dealer to whom Drexel sent his recent work and finds a painting of Liz standing over a grave with a tombstone bearing his name.

    Season 3, Episode 16

    Season 3

Following news that the U.S. government was behind the assassination of Chinese official Zhang Lau, China retaliates by murdering the State Department’s Russell Pritchard. Linking Lau’s murder to Chinese-American businessman Addison Wen, Red concludes that Pritchard was killed after a recording of his deal with Wen to kill Lau was leaked by the Caretaker, a Blacklister who maintains a safe deposit vault of potentially incriminating secrets for governments, criminals and business leaders worldwide. Meanwhile, after he and Liz decide to get married, Tom secretly buys a gun to help him convince Gina Zanetakos that their criminal and romantic partnership is over. Though he’s never met the Caretaker, Wen admits to using an abandoned pneumatic tube system beneath Manhattan to deliver the Pritchard recording. Calling on an old friend, Red learns that the Caretaker’s tube ends at a cemetery. When they arrive, Ressler and Samar find the Caretaker, aka Albert Janus, exhuming a corpse where he’s hiding the secrets he’s being paid to keep. Admitting he released the tape that led to Pritchard’s death, Janus says that he had no choice after his daughter Rose was kidnapped by men who are now about to leak another tape, this one implicating the German government in the cover-up that followed an airline disaster. Meanwhile, to learn the truth about her mother, Liz tracks down former KGB agent Anton Velov. Though Velov claims he can’t help, he gives Liz a letter to deliver to his estranged daughter. As the FBI launches a search for Rose, Red uncovers information that leads Ressler and Samar to the motel where she is being kept. Though one of the kidnappers is killed, his partner, Justin, refuses to talk without a lawyer. However, when Rose seems more concerned about her kidnapper’s well-being than her own family, Justin breaks down and admits that they are brother and sister. So as Aram helps Ressler disarm a bomb meant to punish the German airline, Janus tells Cooper that Rose isn’t his daughter, but that he and his wife raised her after her abusive father was killed in an accident. Finally, after tracking down Velov’s daughter, Liz learns some startling news about her mother.
